Portobello Ceilidh Band exists to promote the music and dance of Scotland, to make them accessible and relevant. Its driving and insistent rhythms are impossible to stand still to - you've just got to dance! And then, when you've danced yourself to a standstill, the plangency of the slow airs and the songs new-spun will move the evening onto a different plane altogether. But only until you've got your breath back once more and your heart-rate down to something approaching normal - then it's back to the dancing again. Band and dancers; dancers and band.
